Spicy Hummus Dip

Hummus Dip is a very popular party dip to serve and to snack on at home as it is high in protein and great for plant-based diets.  It is a perfect dish to bring as an appetizer for any type of gathering as well.  It has a long shelf life to keep on hand in the refrigerator and it is so easy to add in other ingredients to create a variety of flavors such as roasted red pepper, cilantro, pesto, avocado, and the list goes on.  It is served well with either crackers, or for a low-carbohydrate option, use vegetables such as carrot sticks, celery sticks, broccoli, cauliflower, or red pepper slices to dip in it.  The recipe below is the simple and fast version that is packed with flavor after adding in Sriracha Seasoning Stix.

This dip is also great to use as a spread on bread as a substitute for mayonnaise.  Hummus is easy to eat and does not take long to make.  Taking regular hummus dip to a new taste level is so easy now with Sriracha Seasoning Stix.  This recipe will surely be a new favorite your family will enjoy.  For a less spicy version, just use one seasoning stick, for a little more of a spicy pop of flavor then use two based on your flavor preference.    

Ingredients:  You will need a food processor or blender for this recipe.

  • 2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1/2 cup roasted tahini (sesame seed butter)
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel or zest
  • 2 cloves garlic finely ground
  • 1/4 cup packed flat leaf parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Optional: salt to taste
  • Optional: ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch paprika, and sprinkled on top
  • 1-2 Sriracha Seasoning Stix (dissolved in 2 tablespoons of water)
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Directions:

  1. Place garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, parsley, and green onion in the bowl of a food processor or blender.  Dissolve the Sriracha Stix in the water for easy mixing.  
  2. Blend until smooth, adding water if the mixture is too thick. If needed, season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Sprinkle with paprika, refrigerate until serving and enjoy!
